DIY Patriotic Bottle Ring Toss – Top Easy Cheap July 4th & Spring Party Design Project

  1. Sand crates and stars lightly to smooth any rough edges then paint interior and exterior of crate and front of stars with spray paint until covered. Let dry.
  2. Glue stars to 1 side of each crate with glue gun.
  3. Wash and remove any labels on bottles with warm soapy water – Goo Gone works like a charm to help remove any remaining glue.
  4. Pour red paint into 6 bottles and white paint into the other 6 bottles – add a tiny bit of water to your paint if it’s too thick. Rotate bottles slowly to cover the entire interior of the bottle then pour excess paint out.
  5. Place bottles upside down on wax paper-lined tray to finish draining paint, about 30 minutes then flip bottles right side up and clean rim then let them dry for 48–72 hours.
  6. Remove any stickers on embroidery hoops then remove metal parts by bending with pliers.
  7. Glue large hoop openings together with glue gun then wrap jute around hoops and secure with glue. Once dry, paint hoops with different colors and/or patterns, creating enough hoops so each player has 4.
  8. Place crates together and set 6 bottles in each crate to make 4 rows of 3 bottles. Mark a line 3-6 feet away from the bottles for game players to stand behind when tossing rings. Give each player 4 rings and have them stand behind the line. Toss rings onto the bottles and the player who rings the most bottles wins.
